Dental Emergencies

Having a health emergency of any kind can be a scary experience, especially if it involves pain. Dental emergencies are no different. That is why we do our best to see patients quickly when they experience a dental emergency.

Dental pain rarely resolves on its own and may actually worsen with time. If you have questions about whether you need an appointment for your condition, call us! We are happy to help.

New Patients Welcome

If you are new to the area or if you are simply looking for a new dental home, you might not have a regular dentist at the time of your emergency. We welcome you to our dental practice, whether you are a valued existing patient or someone brand new to our dental family.

Either way, you can count on receiving exceptional, professional, and courteous dental care because when you are with us, you are our number one priority!

Common Dental Emergencies

Most dental emergencies start two ways: something hurts or something breaks. If this happens, do not hesitate to call our office immediately. Our highly trained staff is experienced at asking the necessary questions to get you taken care of. Some of the most common dental emergencies are:
  • Dental pain
  • Swelling
  • Extreme sensitivity to pressure
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold
  • A broken or lost crown
  • A broken tooth
  • A lost filling
  • Trauma
If you experience an accident and have head or neck injuries, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room to rule out any more serious conditions. Otherwise, at the first sign of trouble, call our Tuscaloosa, AL dental office right away.

If it is after hours, call our office and follow the instructions for a dental emergency. Someone will get back to you promptly.

Your Dental Emergency Appointment

When we ask you to our office, we will proceed with an emergency exam. This is to determine the cause or source of your emergency and to restore your comfort! We will take an x-ray of the area so that we can see what is happening inside your tooth. Once we determine a cause, Dr. Mark Tickle will offer treatment options to restore the health of your smile.

In many cases, we can provide you with palliative treatment at your emergency visit. Depending on the nature of your condition, we may ask you to return to finish treatment.

We understand that dental emergencies can completely disrupt your schedule and that is why we work hard to solve your dental emergency quickly, effectively, and gently. Dr. Tickle’s extensive experience will provide you with excellent results so that you can get back to what is important.
